Our Monarchs have hatched

Our 2 chrysalises have hatched. The first one came out in the middle of prayer time. It looked like a bundle of washing on the floor because it was all wrinkled up. Then after 20 mins its wings were dry and they opened them and we thought they were so beautiful. It took all day and night before the butterfly wanted to fly and when it flw it landed on Jacob's dad and climbe up on to his head. The next another one hatched and we watched it crack and come out. It was exciting.

Progress on our Monarch Butterfly

Savannah's Mum gave us two caterpillars before the holidays. They ate lots and lots and during the holidays they turned into chrysalises. It has been 18 days and one of them has got darker.

Trust me

Our virtue is Trust so we played a game that displayed trust. We had partners to play the game. We had to cover our eyes and trust the other person to get us back safe. This game was pretty scarey for some people. It felt like we were going to trip over. Some of us were frightened but noone got hurt.

Ben Browne the author visits St Marys

The whole school went to the hall and Ben Browne came to talk to us. He told us about writing books and stories. We found out that he likes to read books and to write them. His wife is an illustrator and she draws the pictures for his books. He didn't like reading until he was 9 and he read a book called Tom Sawyer.
He read us some books and Pia held the book and turned the pages to show us the pictures.

Cross Country Training

Today we were training for the cross country. We ran around the field and Liam was the leader. We are training for the cross country so we can get fitter and it will be easier. When we were running my shoe fell off.

Rescue Helicopter comes to school

Today Klaudia came to school in the Rescue Helicopter. She brought her friends and her brother too. She won a colouring in competition.
The helicopter was sooo windy it blew Pia over and nearly blew Mrs Schroder off the playground where she was taking photos.
We got to have a look up close in the helicopter.
