Term 2's Disco

The last Thursday of Term 2 we had a disco. Lot's of children came and some of the parents. We dressed up as something beginning with P. We had Kelly the pumpkin, Liam the prop, Jake the pirate, Adam, Shari and Mrs Schroder in their Pjs, Andrea the photographer, Marty and Jacob the pop stars, Pia the poodle, Neve the pussy cat, Jasmine the Polka dot,and Princess Grace, Amelia, Breanna and Rebecca.
There were rainbow lights, treats, and a smoke machine.

How fish breathe.

Today Liam brought along a fish so we could have a look at it's gills. We found out that fish breathe through their gills and get oxygen from the water. We breathe using our lungs and when we are under water we can't breathe because we get our oxygen from the air.

Bishop Barry visits St Marys

Matariki

Today we went to the high school and some of the kids perfomed a small play for us. The play was about the seven stars of Matariki. We celebrate Matariki in June and it is Maori New Year.
We made some stars with pieces of string and diamonds too. We had some fried bread with jam on them to celebrate Matariki.

Old Mcdonald Playhouse

Today there was a show at St Marys. Some of the characters of the show were a cat, dogs, and cows. Izzy was put in charge of making sure Gyp the dog did his training for the Hokitika Sheep Dog Trials. She had to tell Gyp how many starjumps to do. We thought the show was pretty fantastic and hilarious.

We are learning to use voice thread. Our topic is Helping Hands in our community.
