The School Fair

Last Sunday there was a fair at St Mary's School. Some of the activities you could do were.... lucky dip, the hoop game, face painting (as you can see) and there was going to be lots more but it was raining. There were lots of items for you to buy like... toys,clothes, books, jewellery, tools, and you could get lots of things to eat.

Pia's Earthquake Story

On Friday there was a earthquake. Mummy was shouting 'Earthquake'! It was Papa's first earthquake.
The day after Mum, Dad, Papa, Nana and Else were shaking because they were scared. In Christchurch it was a catastrophe. Lucky our chickens were alright. Cars were squashed, houses fell down. There was lots of damage. Even Hamish's bed rocked and rolled. Mum was so scared she screeched . Hamish's bed must have fun jumping about. I don't think Hamish thought it was fun lying on an excited bed. I just lie down on my bed and fall asleep.

Term 2's Disco

The last Thursday of Term 2 we had a disco. Lot's of children came and some of the parents. We dressed up as something beginning with P. We had Kelly the pumpkin, Liam the prop, Jake the pirate, Adam, Shari and Mrs Schroder in their Pjs, Andrea the photographer, Marty and Jacob the pop stars, Pia the poodle, Neve the pussy cat, Jasmine the Polka dot,and Princess Grace, Amelia, Breanna and Rebecca.
There were rainbow lights, treats, and a smoke machine.

Book Week

On Tuesday we went to the library and mary read us a book. Then we had a scavenger hunt and we had to find  the numbers and then we went back to school.

Today we went to the library to go for a scavenger hunt and I found the first picture. My class found more pictures and I found the next picture and Jacob and Aoibheann got some honey. By Sparsh

The Wedding at Cana

On Tuesday we acted out the Wedding at Cana. The bride was Pia and the groom was Adam. Jesus and Mary were played by Cameron and Aoibheann. The servants were Jacob,Jasmine and Sparsh. Everyone else that wanted to be in it were wedding guests. We got into costumes and got the props ready and then Mrs Schroder took photos of us. We made a comic with the photos and added Speech bubbles to retell the story.

Ben Browne the author visits St Marys

The whole school went to the hall and Ben Browne came to talk to us. He told us about writing books and stories. We found out that he likes to read books and to write them. His wife is an illustrator and she draws the pictures for his books. He didn't like reading until he was 9 and he read a book called Tom Sawyer.
He read us some books and Pia held the book and turned the pages to show us the pictures.

Cross Country Training

Today we were training for the cross country. We ran around the field and Liam was the leader. We are training for the cross country so we can get fitter and it will be easier. When we were running my shoe fell off.

Safe Walking

On Thursday Constable Jos and Constable Teri showed us how to walk safe across the road. We learnt how to walk across the pedestrian crossing properly. We went around the block of the school. When we were crossing to go around the block back to school there wasn't a pedestrian crossing. When we got back we talked about the road rules.

Tractor Trek for Cancer Kids

We walked down to the beach to see all of the tractors come past. A police car with his lights on was first and then a fire engine followed by all of the tractors.

The student of the week was Jacob and he got to sit on a tractor and they started it up. Jacob said it felt real good. After that we all sat in the tractor.

Children's Day

On Friday we dressed up in our house colours and then we paraded around the court. After that we played games. Some of the games were Sponge races, Musical Islands, an obstacle course, baton relay and a balloon race.

After lunch we went to the pool for a free swim. It was fun and some people went on the inflatable slide.

Sprinkler Fun

On the Friday of the first week of school we played in the sprinkler. It was fun.

1st Mass

At our first mass on Friday Father Jolly blessed the new children to St Mary's.

Father blessed Adam, Pia and Breanna who are new to Room 2.
